Yaisani Namvong, sophomore merchandising major and media studies minor at Colorado State University, likes to mimic a New York City style “while adding a Colorado touch.â€
She wears a cream crochet cardigan purchased from Forever 21 for $24, a black J. Crew tank top that was about $12, and a purple lace skirt, also from Forever 21 at a cost of $4.
Namvong’s black sweater tights came from Target for $10 and her navy blue Hunter boots cap off the look at $125.
She describes her personal style as neutral.
“I don’t like to be loud with my clothes, I enjoy mute colors, nothing too bright or glitzy,†Namvong said. “I don’t wear too much patterns, mostly simple, neutral colored clothing.â€
“As for jewelry,†Namvong said, “a simple men’s looking watch is all you need I think.â€
Namvong also models her outfits around the unpredictable Colorado weather.
“I like to layer a lot of clothes for warmth,†she said. “I love boots! I wear everything with boots!â€
Namvong said she does not have one specific favorite store, but rather likes to “roam wherever they have cute clothes†at the mall. She also currently enjoys shopping online at websites such as piperlime.com.
Namvong draws inspiration for the way she dresses from celebrity style icons.
“I am really inspired by my style icons Olivia Palermo and Rachel Bilson,†Namvong said.
Palermo is known as a New York City socialite and fashionista, and was featured on the MTV reality show “The City.†Bilson is a movie actress currently living in Los Angeles.
“Olivia Palermo lives in New York City so a lot of her clothes are also layered,†Namvong said, “which makes it easy for me to kind of mimic her style while adding a Colorado touch.â€
