Don’t let your thesis get you down

Just hearing the words “thesis” and “dissertation” can conjure up feelings of dread in the hearts of graduate students.

Today at 4 p.m. in room 234 of Aylesworth Hall, those stressed-out students can receive support from the CSU Health Network Counseling Services and fellow graduate students –– helping them to realize they’re not alone in their graduate endeavors.

According to the event’s press release, “The (support) group does not provide specific writing or editing help, but focuses on issues such as time management, motivation, finding support and setting long- and short-term goals.”

The thesis/dissertation support group will meet on a weekly basis throughout the semester. Interested attendees can contact senior staff psychologist at the CSU Health Network Ellen Cooney at (970) 491-6053.

Remember to work on your memory

Today at 7 p.m. in room 105 of the TILT (The Institute for Learning and Teaching) building, students can learn some useful memory tricks to help them during the first set of exams.

While professor’s would hope students retain information the first time they hear it, the truth is, many students “cram” information the nights before an exam –– and today’s workshop can help students learn to remember what they study.

During the workshop, students will learn “tricks” for quick memory recall, and ways to improve study quality –– as opposed to study quantity –– will be discussed.

The event is free, and those looking for more information can call event contact Christie Yeadon at (970) 491-2519.

Spring into a new job season

Tomorrow at 10 a.m. in the Lory Student Main Ballroom, job-hungry students have the opportunity to connect with more than 100 potential employers at the Spring Job Fair.

All the employers at the fair will either be hiring for full-time, part-time, internships or summer/seasonal positions.

It’s recommended that students who attend “dress to impress” and come prepared with a resume, which can be reviewed before the event during Resume Rush.

The Spring Job Fair is open to current CSU students and CSU alumni only.

Event Contact Connie Horak can be reached at (970) 491-5708.
