One day after naming three members of his new staff, CSU football coach Jim McElwain added a fourth on Thursday when he named Tim Skipper as an assistant coach.
Skipper has been a part of the Fresno State staff since 2006, serving as a running backs coach, and most recently, as a linebackers coach.
McElwain and Skipper worked together at Fresno State in 2007 when Skipper served as running backs coach and McElwain was the offensive coordinator.
The New Orleans native played linebacker at Fresno State from 1997-2000. He started his coaching career in 2001 at Western New Mexico. He then coached three years at Sacramento State before returning to Fresno State in 2006.
He has served on the defensive side of the ball for his entire coaching career other than 2006-08 when he coached running backs at Fresno State.
His father, Jim Skipper, is currently the running backs coach for the Tennessee Titans.
The announcement comes as McElwain is preparing for the BCS National Championship game on Jan. 9 against LSU.
CSU will announce titles and responsibilities once the full staff is in place. All three of the coaches that have been named are on the road recruiting.
