The CSU System Board of Governors approved on Wednesday a $124.5 million bond package to upgrade the Animal Sciences building, complete construction on Academic Village North and for the Lory Student Center renovation, which is slated to break ground in spring 2013.

The bonds will be issued in the spring. The LSC renovation will be financed through a student fee increase, and will take 16 to 18 months to complete, displacing at least half of the offices and businesses in the building. Five million dollars of the $65 million project will come from the LSC’s reserves, and the best will come from bonds.

The Animal Sciences Building is planned to cost $19.5 million, with only $7.5 million coming from bonds. The bonds will cover improvements to the building’s plumbing, mechanical, electrical and telecommunications system, and the remaining budget (which will come from private funds) is slated to build two additions including a 170-seat auditorium.

  • $7.5 million for Animal Sciences building
  • $60 million for Lory Student Center renovation
  • $57 million for the Academic Village North project
