Tucked away in a strip mall on West Elizabeth Street, family-owned Tiger Lily Chinese Cuisine has been serving it up in Fort Collins since 2002. The restaurant offers a taste of Chinese culture with its mouth-watering meals and comfortable atmosphere.

Tiger Lily, which has been the recipient of a Scene magazine award for its food, has everything imaginable from pork, beef and chicken dishes to rice, noodle, vegetable and shrimp meals. I recommend trying the sweet and sour chicken dish because of its flavorful spices that are not too overpowering, but any entrée is the perfect option for college students since they are all less than $12.

If you are looking for an even cheaper eat, don’t worry. This restaurant has its customers covered by also offering soups, sides and appetizers for under $8.

Looking for something more expensive? All of the house specialties cost less than $15 and family dinner deals are priced between $24 and $46, depending on the number of entrées purchased.

As if all of these menu choices are not enough, this restaurant gives customers even more options by allowing them to add some zest to their foods as they select their desired spice levels. Substituting some ingredients as well as choosing the liquor they want from the well-stocked bar further lets diners customize their meals.

While they wait for their foods to arrive, customers can relax in their red chairs or booths, which they themselves select, and enjoy the ambiance. The Chinese lanterns that dangle from the green ceiling and the Chinese paintings that line the white walls give a sense of Chinese culture, while the dim lighting and small dining area create a cozy setting.

Once customers are served, the waiters and waitresses keep offering excellent service as they repeatedly check in with diners to see if anything else will make their time spent at this restaurant even better.

Although I would try to actually dine at the restaurant so as to fully appreciate the aromas wafting from the kitchen and the welcoming environment, there is the option of take out, which is sure to still provide a pleasing Chinese dining experience.
