The Rams defeated Slovenian pro team Nova KBM Maribor Thursday 3-1 at Moby Arena.

Senior Katelyn Steffan, who had 13 kills and 6 blocks, each team-highs, led the Rams. Redshirt freshman Deedra Foss lead the Rams with 37 assists.

The Rams lost the first set 29-27 after several long volleys ended the set. Nova looked the part of a professional team early, as they jumped out to a 4-1 lead early in the first set.

The Rams quickly responded, though, as they eventually took the second, third, and fourth sets, 26-24, 25-23, and 25-14 respectively.

The game will not count against the Ram’s season record, as the game was an exhibition.

Colorado native Sarah Ammerman had 14 kills on the night, which was tied for second-most on the team. Nova will square off against Northern Colorado tomorrow in their second game of the tournament.

The Rams will face off against Wichita State Friday before finishing off the Ram Volleyball Classic on Saturday night against the Bears of Northern Colorado. The game will be Ag Night at Moby, so fans are asked to wear any orange articles of clothing they have.
