Due to safety concerns from high water, the Fort Collins Parks Department and Natural Areas Program have closed all access to the Poudre River from city owned or managed parks and natural areas along the river.
A press release from the city said Tuesday that no one should be in the river during high flows. Rangers will be posting the closures at entrance points and trailheads throughout the next few days.
According to the press release urban rivers are unsafe during high flows due to strong currents and debris that can trap even experienced boaters.
