Wednesday night’s student government presidential and vice presidential debate marks a campaign season milestone.
Candidates running for Associated Students of CSU president and vice president will be discussing their platforms Wednesday at 7 p.m. in the LSC Theatre during an event that marks the halfway point of the election season.
Historically, the debates have served as an opportunity for candidates to make bold political moves, such as in 2009, when write-in candidates Ben Walker and William Overmann made the shocking announcement that they had dropped out of the race at the beginning of the debate.
Matt Strauch, the director for both Legislative Affairs and Public Relations, said the questions will likely be related to what the candidates would do on campus if elected, their views on student fees and tuition and the role of ASCSU.
Collegian Editor-In-Chief Madeline Novey and Managing Editor Jim Sojourner will be serving as moderators.
