Grenade found in Fort Collins residence

Fort Collins Police Services responded to a call this morning from a building contractor working in an occupied home in the 400 block of Clover Lane who found a hand grenade in the residence.

Officers secured the area until the Fort Collins Bomb Squad arrived on the scene, where they removed the grenade from the home and 15 minutes later rendered it inoperable.

Poudre Fire Authority and ambulance crews were on the scene, which lasted for approximately 15 minutes.

Temple Grandin to be featured on the Discovery Channel

CSU animal sciences professor Temple Grandin will be the subject of an “Ingenious Minds” episode airing on the Discovery Channel at 8:30 p.m. Thursday.

The episode follows Grandin during a typical day in which she teaches livestock handling classes, visits the CSU Agricultural Research, Development and Education Center and interacts with her horses on her ranch.

Grandin, who has achieved fame by being the first autistic woman to receive a PhD, has also been featured in the Emmy Award winning HBO movie “Temple Grandin.”

She attributes her ability to understand animals to her disability and said it gives her unique insights into animal behavior, according to a press release.

‘Il Divo’ to be featured at Italian Film Night

The Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures at CSU will be presenting a special showing of ‘Il Divo,’ a 2008 Italian docudrama, on Thursday at 7 p.m. in Eddy Building Room 212.

The film tells the story of Italian Prime Minister Giulio Andrenotti and his decades-long hold on Italian politics, including his alleged mafia ties.
