There’s proof that LuLu Asian Bistro and HuHot Mongolian Grill are about more than just fortune cookies.

CSU students voted both Old Town establishments as the best Asian restaurants in town.

“The atmosphere, our service and the food keep people coming back,” manager Eric LuLu said. “We’re between casual and high end –– so we’re for everyone and not super expensive.”

Established in 2007, LuLu said the freshest fish, and several unique fried sushi rolls are what set his restaurant apart from other Asian eateries in town.

LuLu’s menu also features such customer favorites as Saigon Beef and KoKo Chicken, which is first deep-fried and then stir fried with peppers.

“You can get sesame chicken anywhere, but we’re different because of our menu options, like the KoKo,” LuLu said.

LuLu’s also offers a delivery service and a 10 percent discount for online orders.

Assistant manager at HuHot Shayna Schiflett also believes that HuHot took half of the ‘best’ award due to the service the restaurant offers.

“Customers make whatever meal they want and no two are the same,” Schiflett said about the grill buffet options. “The grillers also put on an entertaining show when they cook, which is fun.”

As guests wait for their custom meal to be prepared, the grillers play with the fire of the grill or do spatula antics for entertainment –– moves that create excitement among customers, Schiflett said.

Schiflett said HuHot tries to cater to students because CSU is one of the biggest supporters of the restaurant, especially with various university groups, clubs and teams coming often.

“It’s so awesome that the students thought of us for the award,” Schiflett said. “It’s great to hear the local community appreciates us because we appreciate them.”
