Prospect Road will be closed west of Timberline Road from Tuesday to Wednesday, as weather permits, to repair the Union Pacific, UP, railroad tracks.

Traffic will be directed to a detour route using Lemay Avenue, Drake Road, Timberline Road and Mulberry Street.

The project consists of replacing the existing crossing material and repairing the adjacent asphalt roadway, according to a press release.
The work will be performed by UP and paid for by the City of Fort Collins. Permanent repairs will be made by the City of Fort Collins Streets Department crew at a later date.

Boo Pinson, the store manager of Flowerama located on the corner of East Prospect Road and South Lemay Avenue said it could affect his business.
“You never know,” he said. “It could be a hit or miss.”

Pinson said he does not expect to get business from drive-by traffic this week, but Flowerama receives most of its orders by call-ins, so he does not expect the road closure to be too taxing on the business.

Further construction projects are planned for the UP crossings at East Drake Road and East Horsetooth Road at a later date.
