Just because there’s only enough snow to laugh at, that shouldn’t stop you from having fun.

Tonight from 7 to 11 p.m. Ram Welcome and campus activities are sponsoring a casino-themed Winter Carnival.

The main events of the night include comedian Preacher Moss in the East Ballroom from 9 to 10 p.m. and contortionists from De Leon Productions in the Middle Ballroom with two performances at 7 to 8 p.m. and from 9 to 10 p.m.

“(Moss) uses comedy to educate, challenge and speak out in order to help others
understand multiculturalism and diversity,” said event coordinator Bethel Nathan.

Moss is currently on his “End of Racism” tour.
He also has a diversity workshop today from 2 to 3:30 p.m. in room 230 of the Lory Student Center.

For students who want to learn about multiculturalism the workshop will be more interactive than the comedy show, said Director of Campus Activities Lance Wright.

De Leon Productions will present a contortionist act that will be performed inside a 10-foot snow globe, Nathan said.

As a part of Ram Welcome and the office for Orientation and Transition Programs, this event is focused on new and transfer students but is open to all students, Wright said.

A magician, caricature artist, balloon artist and face painter will be present and students can enjoy complementary popcorn, cotton candy and hot chocolate. There will be a DJ and karaoke with giveaway prizes throughout the night.
