Betsy Markey has given her concession speech at her Election party in south Fort Collins. She thanked her supporters for their work, fighting back tears.
She called Gardner to wish him good luck, saying if he needed anything she’d be there to help.
Republican challenger Cory Garder gave his victory speech to a crowd of supporters at his Election party in Loveland at about 9:40.
The Congressional District 4 Republican candidate told the crowd, “Tonight isn’t one campaign victory,” it’s a victory for everybody who’s worked hard.
He promised to be “the hardest working member of Congress you’ve ever seen.” He thanked Democratic incumbent Betsy Markey for her service in the 4th Congressional District.
The crowd chanted “Cory, Cory” as he said, “America, we’re back.”
Larry Carillo, the chairman the Larimer County Republican Party addressed the watch party earlier, thanking the Larimer Country Victory Office for all its hard work.
As of 8 p.m., about 200 people have gathered at the Loveland hotel, including a number of Republican candidates like Colorado House candidate Dane Brandt.
People have been gathering around the front of the room watching the results from other national elections, and the vibe in the room seems to be positive.
Talk surrounded taking a U.S. House seat by the end of the night.
