Emergency services are now working to contain the last bit of a fire just east of Horsetooth Reservoir.
The Bighorn Fire was called in around 4:37 a.m. and estimated to be about 8-9 acres at that time, according to an online emergency update from Larimer County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Kathy Messick.
Bighorn Crossing residents who were asked to evacuate the area via emergency call are now able to return to their homes.
Messick’s 9:37a.m. update said crews are in the “mop up” stage and will remain on scene for the next few hours. This is the last update authorities will provide because the Bighorn Fire is under control.
Poudre Fire Authority, Larimer County Emergency Services, Larimer County Sheriff Department staff, Loveland Fire and Rescue and a few Hot Shot crews from the Forest Service were on scene to battle the flames.
It’s approximate location is just south of County Road 38E and east of Horsetooth Reservoir.
