Monday, the CSU football team received its third verbal commitment from the class of 2011 when Trey Cassidy, a 6-foot-3, 270 pound offensive guard, pledged to the Rams.
Last week, Cassidy took an unofficial visit to Fort Collins, which was enough to sell him on where he would spend the next four to five years of his life playing college football.
“I looked around, got to see the campus, and everything was brand new,†Cassidy told GoldandGreenNews.com. “They have a state-of-the-art weight room, athletic center and a nice athletic building. Everything is brand new. All the coaches and players were a family.â€
With a 5.1 second 40-yard dash and the ability to bench 385 pounds while squatting 580 pounds, Cassidy held offers from Lamar and McNeese State. He was also receiving interest from Kansas, Kansas State, Missouri, Nebraska, Rice and Tulsa.
A preseason all-state selection in the Lone Star State, Cassidy holds a 3.2 GPA and plans to major in chemical engineering.
