The City of Fort Collins Streets Department began road reconstruction Tuesday on West Horsetooth Road from Taft Hill Road to Shields Street.

Work began at Taft Hill Road and proceeds east.

The project is estimated to last approximately three weeks, according to a press release from the Streets Department.

During this time, drivers won’t be able to access eastbound Horsetooth Road as crews widen the road on the south side.

To avoid congestion, drivers are encouraged to use signalized intersections detour routes on Taft Hill Road, Drake Road, Shields Street and Harmony Road.

When construction is completed, the area from Taft Hill Road to Shields Street will feature new pavement.

“Basically, the road has failed,” said Darren Moritz, Pavement Management program manager.

Crews will work from about 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily.

Motorists should expect delays in the area until the project is completed.

Information on this and other road construction projects is available at www/fcgov.com/streets.
