After more than three days, one lane is now open going each direction in Glenwood Canyon.

A 17-mile stretch of Interstate 70 between Dostero and Glenwood Springs was shut down after a massive rock slide caused extensive damage to the road early Monday morning, forcing traffic to take a 200 mile detour.

According to the Colorado Department of Transportation, speed are limited to 40 miles per hour and loads wider than 14 feet are not allowed.

The CDOT Web site, crews worked today to remove rocks and debris that fell on the road after they blasted a large, unstable boulder off the cliffside on Wednesday, in addition to repairing the drainage system and patching some parts of the road.

The rock slide punched large holes in the raised highway and in the guardrails and no timeline on long-term repairs has been released.
