In an e-mail to the Collegian early Wednesday morning, the Association for Student Activity Programming released the student voting results for the upcoming Spring Concert along with an explanation of why headliner Pepper and opening act The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus were selected.
The move, according to the e-mail from ASAP Concert Coordinator Brooke Cunningham, comes “in light of some feedback (ASAP has) gotten from students.”
The survey results go as follows:
- Rise Against
- Snow Patrol
- Jimmy Eat World
- Dropkick Murphy’s
- Gym Class Heroes
- Jack’s Mannequin
- Red Jumpsuit Apparatus
- Silver Sun Pickups
Cunningham said in the e-mail that from the time the voting list was established in early November to the time bids were being offered to bands, Rise Against, the number one student choice, had raised their price $30,000 and therefore “Rise Against was no longer an option.”
The next student selection, Snow Patrol, is not currently touring and was not accepting bids, Cunningham said.
“The next logical step was Pepper and they accepted our offer,” Cunningham said in the e-mail.
The student organization then chose the next highest band within their budget range as an opening act: The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus.
