CSU senior offensive guard Shelley Smith was selected on Monday to play in the East-West Shrine Game on Jan. 23, an event that showcases the best college football players in the nation.
Smith, who stands at 6-foot-4, 300 pounds, is the eighth Ram selected for the Shrine Game in as many years and joins program greats like Gartrell Johnson III, Joey Porter and Thurman “Fum” McGraw to play for the West team.
The game will take place at the Citrus Bowl in Orlando, Fla. and will be televised on ESPN2.
Football lands its 15th commitment
The CSU football team landed its fifteenth commitment of the 2010 recruiting class on Monday from Brandon Joiner of Navarro Junior College in Cosicana, Texas. Joiner is 6-foot-3, 235 pounds and is listed as a three-star weakside defensive end by Rivals.com.
Joiner is the only junior college player committed to the Rams in this recruiting class.
