For the second time this season and the third time in her career, CSU third baseman Lauren Cusick was named the Mountain West Conference Softball Player of the Week on Tuesday.
Cusick received the honor after leading the Rams to a 3-3 record at the Bank of Hawaii Invitational in Honolulu, Hawaii this past weekend. Cusick batted .455 with three home runs, five RBIs and 21 total bases at the four-day tournament.
Cusick leads the conference with 12 doubles, is tied for first with 11 home runs and ranks fifth with a .385 batting average.
With 23 games left on the schedule, the senior from Salem Ore., is on pace to break the school record for home runs in a season, which was set by Cusick’s teammate, Ashely Munoz, last season when she hit 14.
The Rams will travel to Greeley on Saturday to play a double-header at the University of Northern Colorado. CSU will then start its conference schedule at Utah on April 3.
