Sophomore wide receiver/kick returner Dion Morton and senior offensive lineman Nick Allotta were named to the all-Mountain West Conference team Thursday.

Tuesday Allotta was named to the official all-MWC second-team along with senior defensive end Jesse Nading, as voted by members of the media who cover the league.

“The Rams were a big disappointment this season, but don’t blame Allotta,” wrote Mike Huguenin, a college football editor.

The 5-foot-10, 162-pound Morton was recognized as a kick returner after leading the conference in return yards with 26.8 per game.

“It means a whole lot. I’m pretty excited for it,” said Morton after hearing about the news. “It would’ve been better if my team was better, though.”

Morton scored his first career touchdown in week 3 at Houston but missed the final three games of the season with a sprained ankle.

The 6-foot-3, 305-pound Allotta started all 12 games for the Rams and helped lead a much-improved rushing attack that ranked third in the conference with 166.7 yards a game.

Morton said that although CSU struggled through a 3-9 season, nobody on the team threw in the towel.

“Everybody I know didn’t quit-that’s kind like being part of a man,” he said.
