Led by sophomore Bryce Hanstad, the CSU men’s golf team moved up four spots and finished tied for sixth Tuesday at the Wolf Pack Classic in Reno, Nev. The Rams began the day in 10th after rounds 1 and 2 on Monday but came back to shoot 7-over-par as a team to finish in a tie with Long Beach State in the 19-team tournament.
Hanstad followed two rounds of par with a 1-under-par 71 in Tuesday’s third and final round, which placed him 13th.
Junior Zen Brown and sophomore Dustin Morris each carded a 73 in round 3 to finish in the top 30.
The Rams turned in their best performance as a team this season and came within three strokes of fifth-place Utah.
The University of Arizona dominated the two-day tournament and won by 16 strokes.
CSU sophomores Sean McNamara and Riley Arp each shot a 75 Tuesday and finish tied for 48th and 55th, respectively.
The CSU men’s golf team returns to action Oct. 22 for the Pepperdine Intercollegiate in Somis, Calif.
