New Coach forTrack and Field
The CSU track and field team announced last week that Missy Faubus, a transfer from Cal, will join coach Brian Bedard’s team for the 2007-08 season.
Faubus, who specializes in throwing events, will be eligible to compete this year after reshirting a year ago.
“Missy will make a huge impact on our young women’s throws crew,” Bedard said in a statement. “Missy is an intense competitor who will bring experience and leadership to this group. She should come in and challenge for a top spot in the Mountain West Conference shot and discus along with scoring in the indoor weight throw. ”
Faubus leaves Berkley, Calif., with the seventh highest discus throw in school history, which she set at the U.S. Junior Nationals as a freshman.
Faubus was also named a USATF Junior All-American after she won the bronze medal in the discus in the Pan-Am Junior Games. The Bakersfield, Calif., native was also a high school All-American in the shot put and hammer.
