Timeline of Virginia Tech shootings

At about 7:15 a.m. shots were reportedly fired at West Ambler Johnson Hall, a coed dormitory housing nearly 900 students.
At about 8:00 a.m. all dorms on campus are locked down.
At about 9:15 a.m., shots were fired in Norris Hall, an engineering building 2,000 feet away from Johnson Hall.
At about 9:26 a.m. police send out an e-mail warning around campus.
At about 9:57 a.m. three students were escorted out of Norris hall in hand cuffs. Police canine teams were then sent into the building.
At about 10:20 a.m., all classes on campus were canceled for the day.
At about 10:36 a.m. ambulances transport victims to Montgomery Regional Hospital.
At about 12:15 p.m. Virginia Tech President Charles W. Steger and Police Chief Wendell Flinchum hold a press conference announcing the “monumental tragedy.”
At about 12:37 p.m. police confirmed the shootings resulted in the reported death of 33 people, 2 from Johnson hall and 30 from Norris. About 15 more students are reported injured. The lone gunman is also reported to be dead.
At about 2:01 p.m. President Bush holds a press conference regarding shootings.
