After getting upset by what Head Coach Joe Sharrock called a “lesser” Utah State team on Oct. 8, the CSU hockey team bounced back this past weekend with two wins.
“We came out and looked a lot better this week” Sharrock said.
Saturday night capped the two-win weekend for the Rams. A 5-2 victory over a very competitive Kansas team garnished the weekend after knocking off Texas Tech 10-2 on Friday. CSU put all the pieces together for the two games, having controlled the majority of both games and getting fine net play by sophomore Doug Lesch in the absence of Brian Minor.
The Rams now sit at 5-1 on the young season and prepare to hit the road for a weekend trip against the Division I Central Oklahoma Broncos (2-4-0-1) in Oklahoma City this upcoming Friday and Saturday.
“We controlled much of the game against a good Kansas team,” said Sharrock of his team, which out-shot the Jayhawks 58-14 but only managed five goals. “We still have room for improvement. We need to play a little more disciplined and need to find the back of the net.”
