Say goodbye to summer in style
Cool mornings, hot days and those crisp Colorado nights. Fall is on its way. With the coming of this beautiful season we must say goodbye to the warmth of summer. What a better way to enjoy the last warm days of summer than having cold drinks with your buddies? So, invite your friends, hit the store and mix up any of these alcoholic or non-alcoholic summer drinks. A toast to the end of summer!
Non-alcoholic drinks
Serves 2
Recipes adapted from “Smoothies and Juices”

Kiwi Smoothie
2/3 cup milk
juice of 2 limes
2 kiwi fruit, peeled and chopped
1 tablespoon sugar
2 cups vanilla ice cream
Blend the milk and lime juice first,
then add the rest of ingredients.
Strawberry and Peach Smoothie
Peaches are in season and great for this recipe
3/4 cup milk
2 peaches, peeled and cut
2 apricots, chopped
12-14 fresh strawberries
2 bananas, sliced and frozen
Pour milk into the blender, add peach slices,
then apricots, strawberries and bananas.
Banana and Coffee Milkshake
1 1/4 cups milk
4 tablespoons of instant coffee powder
3/4 cup vanilla ice cream
2 bananas, sliced and frozen
Blend coffee and milk. Add half of the ice cream
and blend until smooth. Add the other half of
ice cream and then bananas.
Alcoholic drinks
Blue Margarita
1 ounce tequila
1/2 ounce blue Curacao (can be found in liqueur section)
1/8 ounce Rose’s Lime juice
2 ounces sweet and sour
Lime garnish
Wet rim with lime juice, dip in salt if desired. Mix
ingredients in cocktail shaker and pour. Can be served
on the rocks or blended.
Mai Tai
1 ounce light rum
1/2 ounce cr/me de almond (can be found in liqueur section)
1/2 ounce triple sec (can be found in liqueur section)
Equal parts sweet and sour and pineapple juice
Float on top 1/2 ounce Myers’ Rum
Garnish with orange
Blue Hawaiian
1 ounce light rum
1/2 ounce blue Curacao
2 ounce pineapple juice
2 ounce sweet and sour
garnish with orange
Lynchburg Lemonade
1 ounce whiskey (Jack Daniels)
1/2 ounce triple sec
1 ounce sweet and sour
Fill with Sprite or 7-Up
Lemon and cherry garnish
