‘Super senior’ a world traveler
Jason Hamrick
fifth year senior
history and political science major
Q: What did you do this summer?
A: I worked on a little island in Cape Cod at a restaurant. I lived out there with some friends from high school.
Q: What was your favorite part about the summer?
A: Traveling, being in new places and meeting new people.
Q: Are you looking forward to starting school?
A: I am, actually. I’m ready now but after the second week of classes I’ll be tired of it.
Q: What are you most excited for this semester?
A: Getting done with school and just having fun.
Q: What made you want to study history?
A: It interested me more than anything, and I had to pick something.
Q: Seeing all the incoming freshmen on campus, do you remember your freshman year?
A: Yeah, I was like all these new freshmen, didn’t know what was going on, like a deer caught in headlights. It was a lot of fun meeting new people though, definitely an exciting time.
Q: What made you want to come to CSU?
A: Originally I was going to go to CU but I got better financial aid here. I’m so glad because I love Fort Collins and I love CSU.
Q: What are some of your hobbies and interests?
A: I like to hang out with my friends, watch sports and be around family. I also love being outdoors.
Q: What sport do you like best?
A: Basketball. I like the Nuggets. I try to go to some games but it gets kind of expensive.
Q: Are you from Colorado originally?
A: No, I was born in San Diego because my dad was in the Navy, but we moved here when I was 3. I consider myself a Colorado native though.
Q: What part of Colorado are you from?
A: A little town called Hotchkiss. It’s a little tiny town. I had like 74 (people) in my graduating class.
Q: What was it like living in a small town?
A: It was cool; you get to know everyone in the town.
Q: Was it hard coming to Fort Collins after growing up in such a small town?
A: No, not at all. I’m used to traveling. My dad lived in Denver so I spent a lot of time there. So it wasn’t a big deal.
Q: Where have you been?
A: Well I studied abroad in Wales last year, and I traveled around Western Europe. My favorite area was Scotland – it was beautiful.
Q: What’s the next vacation you have planned?
A: Hopefully Costa Rica. I want to go hang out at the beach and have some drinks.
