Football team prepares for opening game
The CSU football team suited up in full pads on Tuesday and worked against scout teams for the second consecutive day to prepare for its opening game Sept. 2 at home versus Weber State.
While the offense worked on a few option plays, the defense used the scout team time to practice different blitz plays.
Also for the second straight day, senior cornerback Robert Herbert practiced with the second-team defense after asking to be demoted on Monday.
Play of the day: Going full contact against the first-team offense, sophomore linebacker Jeff Horinek picked up junior Kyle Bell’s fumble and returned it the distance for a defensive touchdown.
Quote of the day: “I play every night. I’m in 2011 right now in that game. It’s an honor to be an impact player, I like it a lot.” – Herbert on being an “impact player” in “EA Sports’ NCAA 2007” video game.
Injury Report: Linebacker Jake Pottorff was held out of practice again with a shoulder injury and will not be ready for action until next week, according to associate athletic director Gary Ozello.
