Any student who goes above and beyond a regular routine of classes deserves some respect.
Whether it’s volunteer work, an internship or some extracurricular scholarly pursuit, these students clearly have drive and commitment.
And then there are ROTC students.
They’re easily noticeable. On Tuesdays and Thursdays they walk around campus clad in uniforms. They look different, and that’s because they are.
They work hard to maintain a standard most of us couldn’t be bothered to uphold. In addition to being dedicated and generally courteous and responsible members of our community, many of them will likely end up fighting for our country.
While we do not support many of this presidential administration’s policies and actions, we will always support these men and women who support us.
There’s some truth to the clich/ – it’s a dirty job, but somebody has to do it. And the fact that these men and women have stepped up has ensured that those of us who desire the freedom to not fight may have our wish.
