With only three starters returning from last year's 11-17 men's basketball team, the Rams will have a new look tonight. CSU will host Regis University for their first preseason game at 7 p.m. at Moby Arena. Eight new faces will be on display for the Ram team that was picked to finish No. 8 in the Mountain West Conference by the Preseason Coaches Poll.
The Rams, although selected to finish towards the bottom of the conference, are a talented group. Sophomore forward Jason Smith, last year's MWC Freshman of the Year, looks to make a strong impact again this season. Senior guard Michael Morris will return as the team's leader in assists and steals.
But the new faces will also be asked to help carry the team. Northeastern Junior College transfer Michael Harrison is a projected starter who will line up alongside Smith as a forward. Dodge City Community College transfer Corey Lewis will start in the back-court with sophomore Sean Morris
The Rams have had much success against the Regis Rangers. The overall series record is 22-7 in CSU's favor, and last year the Rams dominated with a 78-49 victory. Regis was 14-13 last season.
