Teams travel this weekend to Cal and Boulder
CSU track and field teams will split up this weekend to compete in two different tournaments.
Head coach Del Hessel is sending 22 athletes to the University of California to compete in the Brutus Hamilton Invitational today and Saturday.
Sophomore record-breaking sprinter and jumper Janay DeLoach is heading home to California to compete. DeLoach broke her own record in the long jump with a leap of 20-1 1/2 at the Rob Upton Invitational. She said she is looking forward to returning to her home state for competition.
"The competition is going to push me that much farther," DeLoach said.
The remainder of the team will visit the University of Colorado to represent CSU at the Colorado Invitational.
Sophomore Rheannon Backes placed first in the high jump and regionally qualified at last weekend's Tom Benich Classic at the Northern Colorado. Backes will compete in the Colorado Invitational Saturday.
