While the green beer and Irish spirits will be flowing freely on St. Patrick's Day and throughout the weekend, party-goers should take caution and avoid doing anything to compromise their safety and the safety of those around them.
Each year many people celebrating their Irish heritage, or lack thereof, congregate inside their favorite local watering hole to take part in good ol' Irish festivities. However, with good times comes great responsibility. This year is no exception.
The Larimer County Sheriff's Office, in cooperation with the Colorado Department of Transportation, Colorado State Patrol and the Law Enforcement Assistance Fund, will be cracking down on intoxicated drivers who are breaking the law and endangering the lives of others. These offices plan to provide 81 extra hours of DUI enforcement along with regular patrol hours in the evenings and nights beginning on Thursday and going through March 21.
We support our local law enforcement's efforts to keep the streets safe during the upcoming holiday weekend. Make it easy for them by avoiding the dangers of drinking and driving.
We encourage practice of safety precautions for those participating in any drunken festivities. People should make sure they have a designated driver or other safe ride home to ensure the safety of themselves and others. Don't ruin the holiday for yourself and everyone around you by drinking and not thinking.
Have a fun and safe Spring Break!
