Boulder police are seeking a suspect in regards to the kidnapping and sexual assault of an 18-year-old University of Colorado-Boulder student, according to a Denver Post article.

This woman is yet another victim in another tragedy. She and countless other people are victims and there is no excuse for what happened to them and they should never be blamed for being rape victims.

But, there are precautions people can take to avoid bad situations. Both the CU victim and a Fort Collins assault victim in October voluntarily got into the cars of their attackers. It's no excuse for rape, but it is every person's responsibility to take precautions to protect themselves. Unfortunately, it has become obvious that anyone could be a victim of sexual assault and therefore people are forced to become aware of their surroundings at all times.

You shouldn't get into a car with strangers. You shouldn't walk home late at night alone and you shouldn't trust every one you come across – common sense can be your best protection.
