As the holidays rapidly approach it is easy to get caught up in the bustle of last minute shopping and worrying about what is the most fitting gift for each special person on your list.
Oftentimes tight-budgeted college students have their wallets emptied by overspending on holiday cheer, but inevitably we all receive a few checks from long-lost aunts and grandparents who love us so dearly. So when you return from break this year, think of one more special lady you might give something nice to: Mother Nature.
Over the past semester, the Collegian has printed a series of articles surrounding positive environmental initiatives in Colorado. In this issue there is an article showing just how easy, and cheap it is to provide wind power for your home. Students living in the dorms can purchase a year's worth of wind energy for only $17 and prices are also affordable for students living off-campus. So this holiday season, take account of all the nice things that were given to you this year and if you have the means, give a little back.
Go out of your way and give a something special to the environment this holiday. Being environmentally conscious truly is the gift that keeps on giving.
