Women’s golf ties with CU at Bronco Invitational
The CSU women’s golf team took on 17 other schools at the Bronco
Fall Invitational. CSU tied for second place in the tournament with
the University of Colorado-Boulder, with both teams shooting scores
of 903.
Southern Methodist of Texas finished first after shooting a
combined three round score of 882. They also had the best
all-around shooter, Jennifer Ackerson, who shot a 209.
The Rams had good success on the Falcon Crest Golf Course in
Kuna, Idaho. Senior Lynette Duran shot a 220 and tied for seventh
overall. At the end of day junior Trisha Quick was in a tie for
20th but with a solid final round finished in a four-way tie for
13th. Freshman Chelsea Benton finished in a tie for 20th with five
other golfers. Junior Kristen Campos, junior Margaret Garehime and
freshman Megan Chapman all had quality round and finished inside
the top 50 golfers at the tournament.
The host school, Boise State, shot a school record 907 to finish
in fifth behind Fresno State who had a 905.
CSU continues to be a strong force having finished in the Top 5
of all of the tournaments that they have competed in. Golfweek.com
has CSU ranked No. 43 overall and No. 15 in the West.
CSU will now be idle until the Las Vegas Founders Collegiate
Tournament on Nov. 1.
