Fort Collins has experienced several tragedies within the past week. The death of Samantha Spady and the condition of the unidentified woman who was abandoned in the street Monday evening are both very distressing.

Despite all the misfortune we would like the residents of Fort Collins and those who attend CSU to take a moment this weekend to remember all the lives that were lost on Sept. 11, 2001.

Although recent events in Fort Collins have been a grave loss to the community, we are only a small part of a larger community.

The tragedy that befell the nation three years ago has impacted our country and the world drastically. We need to not only honor those who died that day, but also those who have given their lives since then when protecting the nation from further harm.

The nation will not forget what happened on Sept. 11. With each passing year we feel the sting of it less and less, but it is important that we take time to remember lives lost and to recognize the courage of the many men and women who left their family and friends to serve our country and ensure our enduring freedom.
