University Parking Services is allowing students to turn in can
goods for either $3 off a parking fine or, if the fine has doubled,
a reduction in the fine back to its original amount.
The donations will go to the Food Bank for Larimer County. This
time of the year the food bank usually sees a dramatic decrease in
donations and we feel the program is a win-win-win.
For students, the can of green beans your mom bought for you
your freshman year for 50 cents can now be redeemed for $3 off a
parking fine. For parking services, people will be more willing to
pay their tickets now that they have been reduced. And the food
bank receives needed donations.
We like to see examples of cooperation between agencies,
especially when students benefit.
Too bad the administration cannot work out a way to have
students turn in a dusty can of corn for money off rising
tuition.
