The first flights since 1997 out of the Fort Collins/Loveland Airport to Las Vegas take off July 31.
The new Allegiant Air flights are schedule to depart four times each week on Thursday, Friday, Sunday and Monday. Each flight is on a 500 mph, MD-83 airliner seating 161, said Dave Gordon, director of the airport.
“It’s a nice service,” said Gordon, commenting that it is nice to have the ability to fly out of the Fort Collins/Loveland Airport.
Each flight is schedule for about 8:30 p.m. for its flight to Las Vegas.
“The convenience factor is big,” Gordon said, noting that travelers using the Fort Collins/Loveland Airport will find fewer people, cheaper parking and faster security.
The cost is about $89 one way for the flight, Gordon said.
Allegiant Air was founded in 1997 and is certified by the U.S. Department of Transportation as a scheduled air carrier, according to its Web site www.allegiantair.com. The airline has scheduled flights connecting Las Vegas with Fresno, Calif., Wichita, Kan., Des Moines, Iowa., Lansing, Mich., Colorado Springs, Denver and soon Fort Collins/Loveland.
Gordon said the response so far has been good as flights are “really filling up.”
