People who do not want to spend Mother’s Day at home have another option. Project One of Fort Collins is putting on a benefit concert at the Aggie Theater May 11 to benefit Iraqis citizens who have been affected by the war. The proceeds from the concert will be going to Operation US in California, a not-for-profit foreign aid organization. Money will go towards supplies to help Iraqi citizens who have been misplaced from the war.

Lissie, an organizer for the event, said the concert is a chance for people to come together and do something positive.

“Regardless of whether you are for or against the war, a lot of people’s lives have been affected by this war,” Lissie said. “It’s a chance for the community to come together and say all people deserve compassion.”

Lissie encourages people to come and support the cause.

The concert starts at 8 p.m. with nine bands scheduled to play. 3 peas, Inch Foot, Tara Lee, M.C. Izm, Wasabi, Mystic Vagina, Sweet Neater, Green Lemon and Lissie will be performing. Tickets are $5 and $7 for people under 21. For more information call Lissie at 472-6108.
