Bill Bradford is the proud owner of a yellow 2003 Volkswagen Beetle GL.
Bradford, a senior business management student, won the Beetle raffle Wednesday at noon sponsored by the Associated Students of CSU and Live Life Late. He called his mom first thing.
“It hasn’t sunk in yet,” Bradford said. “I can’t believe it.”
Tickets went for $10 and were available the past couple of months. A total of 600 tickets were sold, said Jill Zambito, program advisor for Campus Activities.
“I bought three tickets,” Bradford said “I just figured it was pretty good odds.”
Many students and faculty went away empty-handed from the raffle drawing. Beth Griffin, freshman political science major, was very disappointed. She said the new yellow bug was her dream car.
“I knew the chances were slim, but I was hoping God was on my side,” Griffin said.
Second prize went to Justin Irwin, a senior computer information systems student. He will receive a $300 gift certificate to the CSU Bookstore. He could not be reached to comment on his winning.
Bradford is looking forward to his unanticipated future with the car.
“I can definitely use it,” Bradford said. “It’s probably the most unexpected thing that ever happened to me.”
