CSU freshman outside hitter Tess Rogers, the Mountain West Conference Freshman of the Year, was named the NCAA West Region Freshman of the Year Tuesday by the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA).
Rogers and the rest of the Rams went 22-10 this season and advanced to the NCAA Championship for the eighth consecutive season. Rogers led the team with 419 kills, breaking the CSU and MWC records for kills by a freshman. The true freshman from Wiggins, Colo., came to the Rams from Merino High School, where she was listed as a Volleyball Magazine Fab 50 selection.
Rogers becomes the first freshman at CSU to be honored by the AVCA.
