Catherine Murray-Rust has been selected as the new dean of university libraries by CSU Provost Peter Nicholls. Murray-Rust’s position will be effective July 1, 2003.
Her duties will consist of being the chief administrative officer of University Libraries; coordinating library activities with academic programs; establishing goals, priorities and policies for University Libraries; contributing to the libraries’ advancement efforts and serving as a representative to professional organizations.
“Catherine Murray-Rust brings to us a wealth of experience in library administration,” Nicholls said in a press release. “We believe she will provide important leadership in an area that has a strong tradition of innovations at Colorado State.”
Murray-Rust currently works as the associate university librarian for public services and innovative technology at Oregon State University. She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree from Mount Holyoke College and has a graduate degree in library and information studies fro the University of London.
Julie Wessling and Carmel Bush have served as interim dean of libraries since Jan. 1, 2002.
