The Associated Students of CSU Student Funding Board allocated $50 to the African Student Association for their fall welcome program Thursday.
The ASA requested the money to rent a music system from the CSU Technical Department for the event, which will take place from 6 p.m. to midnight on Oct. 19 at University Village.
“(The event is) something for people who have never seen people dancing to African music,” said Azwihangwisi Maiwashe, treasurer of the ASA.
There will also be a speech by Edmond Menyie-menyie, president of the association, and a disc jockey will play African music throughout the evening. The event is being held to welcome back members of ASA, though non-members are welcome.
The Student funding board will review proposals from the Organization of Graduate Student Writers, The Industrial/Organizational Psychology Association of Colorado, and MSTies Anonymous of Colorado at its meeting next Thursday.
