The CSU cycling team will brave possible snow conditions when it travels to Boulder this weekend for a criterium race.
The competition will be held at a local business park and the course will be approximately one-mile long. The Ram team is currently ranked second out of 12 teams in the Rocky Mountain Collegiate Cycling Conference.
“We should have a good showing,” said Nathanael Ksiazkiewicz, a freshman cyclist currently ranked first in the Men’s B division. “We hope to have at least 20 racers go down.”
The team will be competing against other teams from the University of Colorado, Colorado College, Air Force and Fort Lewis College.
Several CSU cyclists are at the top of their divisions including junior Nat Campbell, who is currently ranked third in the Men’s A division, and graduate student Steve Owens, who is tied for ninth. All-American Leah Trapp is ranked third in the Women’s A division while team president Kate Vanvalkenburg is sixth.
The Ram team is looking to gain momentum going into the Collegiate Regional Finals April 27-28 at the University of Wyoming in Laramie.
