What will you wear when there’s nothing left?

Fashion Group International students at Colorado State asked this question as they prepared for their recycled fashion show on December 1.

Students have been preparing for this show since August by creating designs, booking the venue, finding a DJ, choosing models, and more. A few fashion classes were required to submit designs to the show as class projects.

FGI received more than 85 submissions to the show this year alone.

This fashion show features sustainable fashion designs made out of recycled products.

The Lory Student Center Main Ballroom was home to the runway of the sold out show.

The next CSU Fashion Show “Destinations” is on March 8 at the Lincoln Center in Fort Collins.

Fall break is fast approaching and many people are traveling home to spend Thanksgiving with their families. However, not everyone will have that luxury this year. Some students, athletes, and foreign students will not be traveling home. International students do not normally celebrate Thanksgiving, and will not travel out of the country just for this break. Other students won’t be traveling home, especially if they live out of state when they will be going home for Christmas break in just a few weeks. Our football team will also be here this break practicing before Saturday’s game. I found out what these students would be doing instead of going home to celebrate. Some are going to eat with their friends’ families. One mom is hosting some of the football team for Thanksgivings. And the more creative alternative is making ‘Thanksgiving burritos’ here with friends.

Ian McDavid, CSU junior watershed major, joined classmates in a demonstration on the plaza today. The students, dressed in costume, yelled back at Brother Jed, a Christian preacher that has recently been on the CSU plaza.

“We’re fighting fire with fire,” said McDavid, who read verses from The Gospel of the Flying Spaghetti Monster. This is the book of the satirical religion Pastafarianism, a satirical take on organized creationism.

The demonstration not only caught the attention of many students passing by. CSUPD arrived on the plaza shortly after to monitor the scene.

Here’s a look at tonight’s top stories on CTV News Channel 11. You can also find them at CTV11news.com.

CSU Student Michael Hanson traveled to Virginia Beach this weekend to look at graduate school and finds himself stuck on the east coast. Airports remain closed because of super storm Sandy. Hanson speaks to us about how bad the storm is and when he will expecting to get back to Fort Collins. The Rocky Mountain Collegian featured Hanson and other students on the front page of Tuesday’s paper. Check out that story by Kate Winkle here.

Producer Note:  We just spoke with Michael Hanson and he has boarded a plane to try and get back to Denver. CTV will followup with him later this week.

CTV Reporter Katie Spencer took a look at one side of CSU that students don’t often see – the haunted side. Different buildings around the Oval are thought to be haunted and Katie has that story.

And CTV Reporter Michael McNulty stopped by a DUI checkpoint location this last weekend.

All these stories, plus up to the minute political coverage from Political Specialist Sean Korbitz coming up tonight.
