Letter from the editors

Today, we decided to devote the opinion page to a response from the community regarding a column we published Wednesday called, “Screwing racism, if you know what I mean.”

We made the wrong choice in allowing this column to be printed. It has truly hurt and offended the community we aspire to represent, and for that, we are genuinely sorry.

As a newspaper that prides itself on representing the diverse opinions here at CSU, our policy has always been that, for no matter what we publish, we grant equal or greater space for other voices to share their side of the story.

Given the breadth of community response that we’ve heard the past few days, and the magnitude of the mistake we made in allowing this column to be printed in the first place, we decided the above response deserved the level of prominence we gave it today.

There’s no taking back what we printed, but what we can do is allow for other voices to be heard.
