The football schedules for the entire Mountain West were announced Friday afternoon.
The first game of coach Jim McElwain’s tenure will be on Sept. 2 against CU-Boulder at Sports Authority Field in Denver.
“I’m excited to finally get the schedule,” McElwain said.
CSU will open conference play on Sept. 29 on the road against Air Force.
“I think the balance of the schedule is very good,” McElwain said. “Having that bye where it is (after seven games), I really like that. Kind of gives you that week to catch your breath and then you go into a big stretch of the season.â€
The Rams will play San Diego State and Boise State, both on the road, for the final time before the two schools leave the Mountain West.
The first home game of the season will be Sept. 8 against 2011 FCS National Champions North Dakota State, where CSU men’s basketball coach Tim Miles coached for six seasons before coming to Fort Collins.
“I hope coach Miles wears his Colorado State stuff that day,” McElwain said.
