While you may consider the train that made you late to school the other day a nuisance, Poudre Studio Artists & Galleries thinks it’s art.

And on Friday, to celebrate the art of movement, Poudre Studio Artist & Galleries will open its Loco-Motion exhibition. The exhibit will include images of familiar means of locomotion, as well as more imaginative visions of transport.

In addition, the exhibit will include several pieces of kinetic art, including some “very large-scale hanging pieces.”

“Our building is located right next to the railroad tracks, so I think that’s where the idea for this exhibit originated. At one time the building was even a location for freight-damaged furniture, presumably unloaded right from the train,” says Becky Hawley, Marketing Director of Poudre Studio Artist & Galleries. “It’s an artful way to honor that heritage and present some striking pieces of art.”

The exhibit is free and open to the public. The opening reception will be held on Friday from 5 to 9 p.m. Poudre Studio Artists & Galleries is located on 406 North College Ave.
