The CSU women’s basketball team forced a jump ball on Wyoming’s last possession and made two free throws to seal a victory Saturday in Moby Arena.

The Rams defeated Wyoming 62-58 to start 3-1 in conference play, CSU’s first victory against the Cowgirls since January 28, 2005.

Wyoming committed four fouls in the last possession against CSU, but could not get into the penalty in time to make the Rams shoot free throws.

Senior Kim Mestdagh scored 21 points to lead the Rams, her second
consecutive game over 20 to go along with four rebounds and three
steals.

Wyoming kept the game close due to their excellent three-point
shooting. The Cowgirls shot 78 percent from beyond the arc on the
afternoon led by freshman Kayla Woodward’s thee threes. Woodward
scored 23 points to pace Wyoming.

CSU kept its turnovers low in the game, only giving the ball away nine times after averaging 21.3 per game heading into the season.
