A symbol that falls close to the hearts of many students is used in hopes of campaigning for peace in Congo. Home what is said to be the world’s deadliest war, young boys too small to carry a gun are sent to the frontline armed with only a whistle.
Those wearing whistles are the whistleblowers for peace, spreading awareness of the unknown.
“The fact that you can put something around your neck and it automatically elevates common conversations was just so amazing to me,” said Laura Schmalstieg, the Retail Coordinator of Falling Whistles. “Every time that you put this on, people are going to ask you what it’s about and you get to talk about it every single day.”
